So, I got into burnt out Ascalon City, hit M, and was very unimpressed. "It's the same thing as I just was, except burned?" But my friends had said that they were in some mountains to the West, so I scrolled...and scrolled...naturally I didn't have any cities on the map, but it sure seemed like it took a while to get to the white area. So I started scrolling back to where I was, just to see if the scale had changed...

Then I accidentally clicked the map. WHOOOOOSH!

To this day, that's still my favorite moment in GW.
Yeah, exactly that.... I actually got goosebumps at size of the world. That was the first time I began to realise just how much time GW was going to consume.... and it was a gross underestimate. Unfortunately, that high was followed by the depression of grinding through all the burned out areas. I detest them to this day, just so damn dreary. But then I got the the Shiverpeaks, and it was still a slog, but it was so pretty.

I actually remembered "enjoying" postsearing Ascalon, by which I mean, I was freaked out, saddened, and a little scared of adventuring out of the missions. I appreciate when games make me feel like that, and I think those are the emotions they were going for. For the same reason, I didn't mind Kaineng much; they were going for oppressive, ugly, and confusing, and boy did they hit it, and it made Pongmei Valley that much more of a breath of fresh air (I particularly like how your last moments in Kaineng right before getting to open grasslands is trudging through waist-high sewage...).

*Picking your secondary specifically for Augury Rock mission.
*Attempting to find groups from THK+ as a mesmer.
*Rolling through ToPK as a B/P squad
*Capping random elite skills because you finally reached that point.
*Having to get armor from LA just to make a 55 set because it was the cheapest armor that gave max energy insignias.

just a few things I can recall

Using Meteor Shower on a warrior because the box recommended Hamstorm and I figured Meteor Shower would be even better.

When Augury Rock wasn't a mission, just a thing you did.

When you couldn't use a salvage or ID kit within so many seconds of a fight.

Anyone remember that little annoyance?

Heh, a fun topic for sure.

I remember joining the game and remaking my character 3 or 4 times before I realized that my skills could be changed around in town.

I miss doing BP groups in Sorrow's Furnace and ToPK. Some people might hate me for saying this, but I actually miss Ursan too. I miss being able to group up with people for missions. I never really did much grouping for quests, honestly. I do remember that I grouped up with this one party that were doing quests outside of Yaks Bend. Gosh, that was a good time.

I miss Kaineng being full of people. I really loved that city. Factions stuff used to be hard, gah. Arborstone anyone?

The pride I felt when getting my first set of elite armor. Or heck, I can remember wanting Fantaic Armor from Lion's Arch for my first character. Just getting that stuff was one heck of an accomplishment.

More than anything, though, I just miss the people. I miss being able to group up for runs and missions.

Or when you were stuck with 1 attribute since you need to kill monsters to change your bar? Ugh suddenly my bar was like well for the ele fire. The warrior was stuck to either sword or axe. Necro was stuck in death (minions owns in the beginning).

The setting. The Ascension(got mad aroud that). The titans. The very first chars struggling to do things with hencs.
Good times when being a noob makes everything epic.
